RIVL Golf Match ("RIVL," "we," "our," or "us") operates the RIVL Golf Match iOS application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our app.

Information you provide

• Account information: Email address and password (stored securely via Firebase Authentication)
• Profile information: First name, last name, nickname, display name preference, home course, city, and state/province
• Profile photo: An optional photo you upload to identify yourself to rivals
• Golf round data: Course name, course rating, slope rating, gross score, handicap index, and date played for each round you submit

Information collected automatically

• Usage data: Basic app interaction data collected by Firebase Analytics to help us understand how the app is used and improve it
• Device information: Device type and iOS version, collected automatically by Firebase
• Crash reports: Crash and error data collected via Firebase Crashlytics to help us fix bugs

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

• Create and manage your account
• Enable you to find and challenge rivals
• Calculate handicap differentials and match results
• Display your profile and match history to you and your rivals
• Improve the app based on usage patterns and crash reports
• Respond to support requests
• Send you notifications about your matches (if you enable notifications)

We do not use your data for advertising purposes. We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

4. How We Share Your Information

With your rivals

Your display name, profile photo, and match results are visible to users you are matched with. Your profile is searchable by other users if you have enabled the searchable setting.

With service providers

We use the following third-party services to operate the app:

• Firebase (Google LLC): Authentication, database storage (Firestore), file storage, analytics, and crash reporting. Your data is stored on Firebase servers. See Firebase's privacy policy.

Legal requirements

We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or governmental authority, or if we believe disclosure is necessary to protect our rights or the safety of our users.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal information — including your profile, profile photo, and round data — from our systems within 30 days, except where retention is required by law.

Match history data associated with your rivals may be retained in an anonymized or aggregated form after your account is deleted.

6. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Correction: Update or correct inaccurate personal data through your profile settings
• Deletion: Delete your account and all associated data through the app settings
• Portability: Request your data in a portable format
• Objection: Object to certain processing of your personal data

Notifications

You can enable or disable push notifications through your device settings at any time.

Profile visibility

You can control whether your profile is searchable by other users through the app settings.

7. Children's Privacy

The app is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, please contact us at privacy@rivlgolfmatch.com and we will delete that information.

8. Data Security

We implement reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. These measures include:

• Secure authentication via Firebase Authentication
• Firestore security rules that restrict data access to authorized users only
• Encrypted data transmission over HTTPS

No method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your data, we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. International Data Transfers

RIVL Golf Match is operated from Canada. Your information is stored and processed on Firebase servers, which may be located in the United States or other countries. By using the app, you consent to the transfer of your information to these locations, which may have different data protection laws than your country of residence.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via in-app notification or email. The date at the top of this policy indicates when it was last updated. Your continued use of the app after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
